One of several neighborhoods of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church that were formed to help our growing parish feel smaller and make it easier for parishioners to form relationships and get more meaningfully involved with the Eucharist, Faith Formation and Service.

A Wave of Summer Happenings

Sorry if we missed you at the Mass & Potluck. We had a wonderful time and got to meet several new families. I am happy to report that the Fish is still alive! (Don't know what that means? Find a neighbor and ask or head over to the Ice Cream Social and check it out for yourself!)

Have a Blessed Summer.

SERVIAM!
(I will serve!)
The Wave Contrada will be sponsoring the Catholic Parish Outreach Food Drive June 26-27. Two volunteers will be needed per Mass the weekend of June 19th-20th to hand out bags. This happens at the end of each Mass. Then, two volunteers per Mass will be needed at the truck the weekend of the 26th-27th of June. These volunteers just need to help take food donations out of people's cars and put them into the truck. Please let Erin Kearns know which Mass you will volunteer for at krizvec@gmail.com Her phone number is 554-9299.

I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!!!
Erin Kearns will be sponsoring an ice cream social at her house on Thursday evening, July 1 at 7pm, to celebrate the feast day of the Wave Contrada (July 2nd). The address is 13117 Trouville Ct., Wake Forest, 27587, and the phone number is 554-9299. You may park as many cars as possible in the driveway, there is a long driveway and then around the cul-de-sac. There will be a scavenger hunt and other games provided by Joann, the social coordinator. Please RSVP to Erin Kearns if you can come at krizvec@gmail.com or 554-9299.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
There are several hours that are in need of adorers in the Eucharistic Chapel. Please consider taking on a hour. More information can be found in the bulletin.

PRAYERS
Thanks to all of those who kept our First Communicants and newly Confirmed members in your prayers this Spring. I heard from several of you telling me how special the day was for your families.

I thought that this summer we could focus our prayers on our Deacons and Priests! We have so much to be thankful for as a parish. We are truly blessed by having these men serve and bring us the Sacraments. (Below are a couple of highlights!)
  • Fr. Vic Gournas was ordained a priest on May 22, 2010. (We can say, "We knew him when he was a Deacon!" He served at St. Catherine's last summer.)
  • Deacon Brendan Buckler was ordained on June 5th at St. Catherine's to the Transitional Deaconate.
  • Mike Alig (a member of the Wave) will be ordained to the Permanent Deaconate on June 26, 2010.
  • Brad Watkins (a new member to our parish) will be ordained to the Permanent Deaconate on June 26, 2010.
  • Fr. Tighe will be celebrating his 10th anniversary as a priest on June 24, 2010.
  • Fr. Ospina will be coming to St. Catherine's on July 1, 2010 to help serve our growing parish.
  • Monsignor Brockman has been a wonderful help at the parish the last 2 years.

Catch the Wave!

Just a reminder that our Contrada Mass and Potluck are this coming Saturday April 24th. Mass will be at 5pm and the Potluck will follow in the Dining Room. Look for a reserved section up near the front of the Church so that we can all sit together. Also, please remember to bring a dinner dish to share with others.

A huge thanks to JoAnne K. and her social committee for organizing the dinner for us. It is sure to be a great "ride" as JoAnne has games and door prizes planned.

See you there!
